EECA 2024 & Act 861 Compliance Requirements

Under the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Act 2024 (gazetted Dec 31, 2024; enacted Jan 1, 2025), commercial and industrial facilities consuming ≥21,600 GJ over 12 consecutive months must fulfill mandatory corporate directives.

Appoint Registered Energy Manager (REM)

Type 1 or Type 2 dependent on consumption thresholds (21,600 GJ to >50,000 GJ).

Implement EnMS

Framework setup within 1 year of REM appointment.

Annual EE&C Reporting

Electronic reporting within 30 days of REM 1-year anniversary.

Building Energy Intensity Labels

Maintain minimum 2-Star performance standard for office buildings with GFA ≥ 8,000 m².

Dependent vs. independent variables, weather degree days (CDD via DegreeDays.net), sub-metering, and sampling.

Data Extraction & Bill Analysis

Extracting utility bill data, understanding tariff structures (Tariff C2, E2), maximum demand, and connected load charges.
